Security and Password Best Practices
Use the following guide for password requirements across OWS software.

OpenEye Web Services (OWS)
NOTE: An Administrator can use the Settings > Security > Password Security section to change the password strength requirements. Specifically, you can change the minimum characters or require a minimum number of upper/lower case letters, numbers, or special characters.
- The password must be at least 12 characters long.
- The password must include upper and lower-case letters.
- The password must include at least one digit 0-9.
- The password must use a special character (!@#$%^&~)
Apex Server Software
Upon the first login to the Apex server software, login with the username ‘admin’ and password ‘1234’. The first-time wizard will prompt a password change using the below requirements:
- Password must be 8-64 characters.
- The password can be in upper case or lower-case letters
- The password can have digits 0-9
- The password can have the special characters (!@#$%^&)
NOTE: If running image version 2.2.1 using a # or a ! in the admin password may cause issues
Command Station Desktop Client
Upon first access to the Command Station software, you will login using Username: admin, password: 1234.
At this point you will be asked to change the admin password using the following rules
- The password must be at least 12 characters.
- The password can use upper or lower-case letters
- The password can use digits 0-9
- The password can use the special characters (!@#$%^&)
