Creating an Apex Server Software Recovery Drive

Creating an Apex Recovery USB for Windows & Linux

  1. Plug the USB flash drive into the PC you will be using to make the recovery media.

    • A Windows recovery drive will require at least an 8GB USB flash drive.
    • A Linux recovery drive will require at least a 4GB USB flash drive.
  2. Download the Rufus application.

  1. Run the Rufus executable and click Yes if prompted by Windows UAC to run.

  1. Click the SELECT button to browse to the Apex image ISO.

  1. The partition scheme should be set to GPT for UEFI.

  1. For the file system, select NTFS for Windows or FAT32 for Linux.

  1. Compare your Rufus settings to the above images  

NOTE: Device label will vary from above images based on ISO versions. 

  1. You will be prompted with a warning that all data on the USB drive will be destroyed. Click OK to proceed in creating the recovery media.  

  2. Once complete, close Rufus, eject the drive, and remove the drive from the PC.
