F6 BIOS Update (For OE-MT Recorder Only)
NOTE: This guide should only be used under explicit instruction from OpenEye. If you have not been instructed to perform the F6 update please contact technical support for guidance.
NOTE: This should only be used for OE-MT GEN.2 recorders with the MQ67EBI-SI motherboard. To determine if your recorder has the MQ67EBI-SI motherboard use the OWS Inventory Report found under Reports > Inventory Report > Recording Devices > Motherboard column.
Follow the steps below to update your recorder's BIOS.
Prepare the USB Drive
- Insert a USB flash drive into your Windows computer
- Format the USB drive as FAT32:
- Right-click the USB drive in File Explorer.
- Select Format.
- Set File System to FAT32.
- Click Start.
- Click OK to confirm.
Download and Copy the Update Files
- Download the BIOS update file here: F6BIOS.zip
- Open your Downloads folder and double-click the F6BIOS.zip file.
- Open the F6BIOS folder inside the zip file.
- Copy all files from the folder to the USB drive.
The USB drive should now contain the update files (example shown below).
Connect USB and Enter BIOS
- Power off the recorder.
- Insert the prepared USB drive into the recorder.
- Turn on the recorder and immediately tap the Delete key repeatedly until the BIOS screen appears.
Change BIOS Settings
- If prompted to enter password type: dvr4321 and press enter
- Go to the Boot tab.
- Set Built-in EFI Shell to Enabled.
- Set Boot Option #1 to your USB drive.
- Go to the Save & Exit tab.
- Set ME FW Image Re-Flash to Enabled.
- Press F4 to save changes and exit. The system will boot from the USB drive, allow several minutes
Run the Update Command at the Shell Screen
- At the Shell> prompt, type fs0: and Press Enter.
- Type: ls Press Enter and confirm you see FLASH.NSH listed in green.
- Type: flash.nsh and Press Enter to start the BIOS update.
NOTE: Do not press any keys or power off the recorder, interrupting this process will damage the BIOS and the system will need to be replaced.
Complete the Update
- Wait several minutes for the update to finish.
- When prompted with: “Please select one of the options:” Type F and press Enter.
- The recorder will reboot automatically after the update completes.
- Once the recorder loads into Apex, remove the USB drive.
Troubleshooting
If the recorder is stuck on a black screen and continuously beeping, remove the USB drive and restart the recorder.
