ONVIF and 3rd Party Device Support
ONVIF Profile S Compatibility
ONVIF profile S compliance and the ability to stream in H.264 codec and are two important qualifications in determining a camera’s compatibility with OpenEye systems.
ONVIF (Open Network Video Interface Forum) protocol has been developed to ensure compatibility between several surveillance and security devices for smooth operation in a network. In short, ONVIF can be seen as a bridging protocol. An ONVIF connection is an IP-based protocol that can be used by NICs, servers, network devices, and mobile devices. So, any camera that meets compliance standards will be able to natively integrate with any NVR.
ONVIF has multiple profiles for different types of compatibility. An ONVIF profile is specific to the type of devices used and the features that are needed to communicate. ONVIF profile S, for example, is used for IP camera systems.
Please see the ONVIF Profile Comparison for more on the features associated with the different profile types.
3rd Party Camera Model Support
To check if your camera will be supported by our systems, look into ONVIF Conformant Products. A search option will provide a list of products that are ONVIF profile S compatible and are broken down by type, manufacturer, and model.
If the specific model is listed with a current ONVIF profile S, it should be compatible and work with current OpenEye systems.
