Apex and OWS Users Overview

This page was created to provide an overview of Apex and OWS user functionality.

Linux
  • Linux OS Users
    • root 
      • Unused and locked. Openeye as policy does not provide root access. 
    • nvruser
      • Used for local troubleshooting and requires Apex admin ability to access
      • Accessed through the Support Tools interface on the recorder
      • Used to check OS settings and retrieve logs
      • Can use the network camera manager (NCM) and DHCP tool
  • Local Users
    • admin
      • Used by installers to setup recorder
      • Has access to Apex setup and saved footage
      • Can add recorder to OWS
      • Ability to access troubleshooting tools such as NCM and the Support Tools interface
  • OWS Users
    • Default user groups
      • Administrator
      • Superuser
      • User
    • Custom user groups
      • Privileges based on groups and access granted.
Windows
  • OS Users
    • NVRadmin
      • Used by installers to configure OS and setup recorder
      • Has Windows OS administrator access
      • Has access to:
        • Command Station
        • Spot Monitor
        • Apex Server home
    • NVRuser
      • Low privilege user that allows basic, everyday client software access
      • Has access to:
        • Command Station
        • Spot Monitor
        • Apex Server home
  • Local Apex Users
    • admin
      • Used by installers to setup recorder
      • Has access to Apex setup
      • Can add recorder to cloud account
  • Local Command Station Users
    • administrator
      •  
  • OWS Users
    • Default user groups
      • Administrator
      • Superuser
      • User
    • Custom user groups
      • Privileges based on groups and access granted.
