Hardware Compatibility for Analytics

Hardware Compatibility

The table below displays the estimated maximum number of channels that would be supported when deploying a specific analytic type. This does not account for a combination of OWS AI analytics and Smart Motion channels running concurrently or other features that may be running on the device (e.g. local console or spot monitor).

NOTE: Performance benchmarks were obtained using the following stream settings:

  • High Stream: 4MP resolution, 15 FPS, 6,000 Kbps bitrate
  • Low Stream: 640 × 360 resolution, 15 FPS, 512 Kbps bitrate

Channel counts are based on typical operating conditions. In high-activity scenes, such as areas with frequent motion, dense foot traffic, or complex visual detail, the maximum number of supported analytics channels may decrease because of higher processing demands.
For best results, enabling performance‑optimizing settings, such as disabling local console video decoding, can free additional resources for analytics processing.

Additionally, to ensure optimal performance, we recommend using the system metric tools provided in the OWS Server Software Setup. To view the system metric tools, go to Setup Options Gear.png > Cameras under General Configuration and click on the specific camera, then click on the Analytics tab.

NOTE: The following channel estimations are applicable to devices on OWS Server Software 3.4.1 and above.
