Are Group Location, Device, and Feature Permissions Assigned at the User or User Group Level?

User Group Permissions that give users access to locations, devices, and features are specific to the User Group and the locations, devices, and features associated with the User Group (rather than the user). Group location, device, and feature permissions are not universally enabled at the user level.

Example: A user has been assigned to two different user groups, Role A and Role B:

  • Role A grants the Manage Locations permission, and Location X is individually added to the role.
  • Role B grants the Manage System Settings permission, and Location Y is individually added to the role.

In this configuration, the user ONLY has the Manage Locations permission for Location X, and ONLY the Manage System Setting permission for all devices in Location Y. The user does NOT have the Manage Location permission for Location Y, and likewise does NOT have the Manage System Setting permission for Location X.
